Together, we are TOGETHER!

“The idea behind DevOps is breaking down silos and opening up workspaces for collaboration and discussion.”
It was not until 2007 that DevOps became an initial talking point in the technology world. This was soon after the advent of AGILE methodologies. The masterminds behind DevOps were Patrick Debois and Andrew Shafer, who came together, to come up with a better way for [technology] teams to work together. DevOps is widely seen as the bringing together of Engineering (Development) and System Admin (Ops) teams in a combined effort to test and deploy in a faster and more efficient way.

If DevOps was a footballer

Let’s look at the way football teams are set up and how they are in particular positions for a specific reason and outcome. Let’s call the defense your Ops and your forwards would then be your engineering or development part of the team. If we jog our memories, we would recall the likes of Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane, Claude Makelele, Yaya Toure, and more recently N’Golo Kante, Sergio Busquets. These are the football equivalents of DevOps.

Box-to-box midfielders who bring together defense and attack in a flowing style of football (production). They were/are footballers who ensured the (testing) defense was always covered, while still pushing the team forward with gilt-edged passing and movement to deploy attacks with precision (passes).

DevOps in recruitment consulting

One can think of technology recruitment consultants = DevOps.

We bring together hiring managers and engineers and at every stage of the hiring process, we ensure both parties are in unison, through continuous “testing” ahead of the next step, in order to achieve the desired outcome. We have an understanding of both sides of the spectrum and have done the research, and gathered requirements from both parties, to initiate a coming together and working together 😊

Head in the clouds…feet on the ground

According to a study released at the end of 2019 by Statista, AWS is the majority shareholder for cloud-based solutions. This is great for the folks behind this phenomenal solution! That being said, there are alternative options such as Microsoft Azure or Google’s GCP offering.

What is important when making a decision on one of these solutions? Which option works best for your business based on infrastructure, costs, and objectives? What does your engineering team think? What is the availability of resources like in your region?

As recruitment specialists, we are well-versed in assisting you with this decision-making process and to ensure your choice is in line with the above-mentioned factors. Now while DevOps is a methodology, it also requires a collective change of thinking and a coming together of various business contributors in order for it to succeed.

Let’s unite in our thinking as technology partners. Afterall, together…we are TOGETHER!
